Jobs and the Economy

The Obama Administration and Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas have used billions of taxpayer dollars for “stimulus” and to take over more of the U.S. economy yet they have created no new jobs for American workers.  In fact, it was recently announced that the bulk of the jobs created are for temporary Census workers.

More government doesn’t create jobs.  But if government will get out of the way of job-creators by lowering taxes and reforming regulations, American entrepreneurs will make the investments necessary to create economic growth and good-paying jobs.  We need to incentivize business to invest in new technologies here in Florida.

Sandy has been on the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s “Honor Roll” five times for her efforts to improve the business climate and create jobs in Florida. 

Government/Deficit Spending

All federal spending starts in the House of Representatives and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas have voted to increase our deficit to $1.5 trillion and our national debt to $12 trillion.  We cannot sustain this reckless pattern of spending which requires us to borrow money from countries like China and Saudi Arabia.

Sandy Adams will push Congress to adopt “zero-based” budgeting which forces every government agency to justify their budgets and no longer just receive automatic increases every year.  This will force bureaucrats to find waste, fraud, and abuse in their own agencies and protect how taxpayers’ money is spent.

Sandy opposes government bailouts and would have voted against TARP and the auto bailout.

Taxes

America isn’t facing a $1.5 trillion deficit because we aren’t taxed enough – it’s because we are spending too much.  Sandy Adams opposes any new taxes and has signed the “Taxpayer Protection Pledge.”

Sandy supports making the Bush Tax Cuts permanent, eliminating the marriage penalty and death tax, and creating a fairer, flatter tax code, such as the fair tax, that would eventually eliminate the I.R.S.

In Tallahassee, Sandy is known as fighter for taxpayers.

Crime

As a former 17-years Orange County Deputy Sheriff and detective, Sandy Adams has seen firsthand the devastating impact crime has on our families, neighborhoods and community. 

With strong support from Central Florida law enforcement, Sandy will make sure government is enforcing the law and giving local, state and federal law enforcement the tools and support they need to keep our citizens safe.

Illegal Immigration

The federal government’s lack of enforcement of our immigration laws has enabled a system that turns a blind eye to people entering our country illegally and receiving taxpayer-funded benefits.

Sandy Adams is a leader in the Florida House of Representatives on illegal immigration.  She authored legislation that would expand the “E-Verify” program to prevent government agencies from using illegal workers from contractors and sub-contractors.  Sandy fought to prevent those here illegally from getting driver’s licenses and also to prevent taxpayer-funded in-state tuition to illegal residents.

Sandy is the only candidate for Congress with a demonstrated history of action in addressing the impact of illegal immigration on our state.

Second Amendment

Sandy Adams is rated A+ by the National Rifle Association and has earned their endorsement for each of her past elections.  She has been endorsed by NRA and the Unified Sportsmen of Florida Association for each of her past elections.

In the Florida House Sandy has fought for legislation protection the privacy of concealed weapon holders. Voted to support stand your ground legislation, and stood up for gun owners right to keep guns at work.

Protecting Life

Florida Right to Life has endorsed Sandy in past elections because of her strong commitment to protecting the rights of the unborn.  She has voted to limit abortions to minors, expanding parental consent, and limiting late-term abortion.  She has averages over 95% voting score with the Christian Coalition was honored with their “Faith and Family Award” in 2004.

NASA and Space Program

One of Central Florida’s key economic engines is the Kennedy Space Center and the space program.  The space program provides high-paying jobs but is also instrumental to our national security and our leadership in the advancement of new technologies and space exploration.

Sandy has served in the Space Caucus as a member of the Florida House of Representatives because of her commitment to our space program and her understanding of the important economic and national security role it plays.

America must continue to be the world leader in space exploration and that includes keeping our space shuttle program solvent until a replacement program is ready.  I will work to promote our space coast program in order to protect the thousands of jobs that fuel our regional economy. 

Over 1000 consumer products and services are built on NASA technologies from Velcro, and trash compactors to LED’s and flat screen televisions.  I will be a strong, vocal advocate for the increased Research & Development funding that will bring the next generation of “miracle” products to the market. 

Energy & Cap and Trade

America must become energy independent – not only as a matter of national security, but also to stop the massive transfer of wealth to foreign countries. 

We need an energy policy that encourages the safe development of all forms of energy including nuclear, clean coal, natural gas, wind, solar, geothermal, oil, and hydro power.

Sandy opposes the “Cap and Trade” legislation that would place a national energy tax on all American families and small businesses. If Cap and Trade passes, our local economy---more so than other states---will suffer.  Families will pay higher utility rates and millions of jobs will be destroyed.  We need an energy bill that saves jobs, improves our economy and promotes technology and innovation while moving our country towards energy independence.  

Healthcare

 Floridians—and Americans—deserve a common-sense approach to healthcare reform, not a costly government takeover of our nation’s health care system. Sandy Adams sponsored HJR 37 known as the Florida Healthcare Freedom Act which will allow Floridians to opt out of Obamacare.

Sandy’s solutions for healthcare includes lowering health care premiums for families and small businesses, increasing access to affordable, high-quality care, and promoting healthier lifestyles – without adding to the crushing debt Washington has placed on our families, children and grandchildren.
