WASHINGTON — Congressional candidate Sandy Adams heads to Washington on Tuesday to accept the support of Maggie’s List, a conservative group that champions female candidates, and raise a few dollars in the process — as invitations to the event suggest $5,000 donations.

Adams, a Republican state lawmaker running against U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach, could use the help, as she is running in a tough GOP primary against former Winter Park commissioner Karen Diebel and businessman Craig Miller.

Among the “honored guests and endorsed candidates” scheduled to attend the Maggie’s List Kick Off at the Caucus Room are U.S. Reps. Bill Posey, R-Rockledge; Cliff Stearns, R-Ocala, and Ginny Brown Waite, R-Brooksville. Non-Floridians include outspoken conservative (and Sarah Palin favorite) U.S. Rep. Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota; California Republican gubernatorial nominee Carly Fiorina; and Sue Lowden, the GOP/Tea Party nominee to oppose Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.

“I’m honored to have the support of the outstanding Republican women of Maggie’s List.  The founders of Maggie’s List and I share a willingness to fight for lower taxes, job creation, and the restoration of a thriving community,” said Adams in a statement.
